Dear Sand Creek Residents,
We want to report and update you on a small electrical fire that occurred in the Pool Pump Room on October 7th around 3:00 PM. It was caused by an overheated plug and receptacle due to some corrosion and the location of the receptacle. We were fortunate it started in the middle of the afternoon, smoke was noticed, and a quick 911 call was placed. Houston Fire Department Kingwood Stations 102 and 103 were dispatched quickly making it a small electrical fire.
It did damage the Swim Team mural wall and some electrical components inside. The gate into the pool and the doors into the pump room were also damaged by the firefighters getting access to the fire. We have repaired the gate and secured the pool area. The replacement pool room doors are on order and will arrive in a couple of weeks.
We have realized for some time that this portion of our facility has not been upgraded since built in 1980. We are now dedicated to correcting all structural and electrical components. The existing pumps, filters, and chlorine system are fine. All other components in the pump room will be reworked between now and the start of the 2025 swim season in April. We have Reserve funds available to cover all necessary changes and repairs.
Thank you,
The Sand Creek Board of Directors
